The 17th Baltic Business Forum “Poland – Europe – European Union” began its work yesterday in the Polish city of Świnoujście.
President of the LSOU and Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Federation of Insurance Associations Viktor Berlin, representing the national insurance market of Ukraine at the forum, focuses on exchanging experience with our European colleagues on opportunities for the development of the insurance market.
The forum was opened by Jacek Piechota, President of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, which is the organizer of the forum and generally works a lot for the benefit of economic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. Jacek Piechota is a former Minister of Economy and Minister of Economy and Labor in the government of Leszek Miller and Marek Bielka. It was he who led the negotiations with the European Commission on Poland’s accession to the EU, negotiations on the terms of compensation, on creating conditions for the functioning of special economic zones. He was one of the creators of the program to assist enterprises, introduced a system of incentives for placing foreign investments in Poland. “I met separately with Jacek Piechota,” said Viktor Berlin. “I proposed a number of projects, which the president of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce responded quite positively to. I said that our goal is the qualitative growth of the national insurance market and that the relevant experience of our Polish colleagues is very interesting for us. We discussed a number of key areas of our interaction and agreed to deepen cooperation between the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine and the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. Back in February, I began negotiations in the European Parliament on finding ways to increase the penetration of insurance in the country’s GDP and bring the insurance market to the European level, and now there was an excellent opportunity to continue the course towards European integration.”
